POKOTABI / Otoriya
鳳や
Set on the second floor in Asagaya, izakaya Otoriya serves distinctive pours like black sesame and coffee shochu alongside wallet-friendly snacks like beef offal stew and soba inari.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Climb the stairs to the second floor, and you are greeted by an intimate space with a single counter and one table. While the subdued interior suggests a quiet bar, Otoriya operates as an approachable, neighborhood izakaya where even first-time guests can settle in without ceremony.
Open the drinks menu, and alongside staple chuhai and beers you will find drinks with an unexpected twist. The house black sesame shochu is a standout, served on the rocks, cut with water, or mixed with soy milk. Coffee shochu, tea shochu, extra-dry sake, and aged awamori kusu round out the list, making it easy to tailor your drink to your mood.
To accompany the drinks, the kitchen provides an assortment of tavern classics, from simmered beef offal stew and monkfish liver to salted squid. You can refresh your palate with cucumber and Japanese ginger tossed with pickled plum, or satisfy a heartier appetite with soba inari, cheese tortillas, or stir-fried yakisoba. Open from 19:00 through 2:00 the following morning, it is a practical stop for late-night nibbles and a quick drink.
